I wanted to share my experience because I saw you mention before that some people wonder if your gowns really work for home births since they’re designed mostly with hospitals in mind.
When I was pregnant with my first daughter (she’s 18 months now), I looked at your gowns for months but decided against it since I was planning a home birth and figured I’d just wear my own comfy clothes.
Well, after 60 hours of labor (30+ active) and a hospital transfer, I ended up in a standard hospital gown and honestly, I hated it. It was uncomfortable, tangled with cords, made skin-to-skin awkward, and I just didn’t feel like myself. Even before transferring, when my waters broke at home, I was walking around in a diaper and nursing bra and felt like I had barely an ounce of dignity left.
I’ve since processed that birth and still see so much joy and purpose in it, but I knew this time around, I wanted things to feel different.
For my second birth, we planned another home birth, and I finally got your gown plus the robe, and we were gifted the matching hat and PJs for my girls. It was such a game changer!
I felt beautiful and strong. When my waters broke, I didn’t worry for a second. Intermittent monitoring for my midwives was a breeze, it was easy to move in and get out of the way when it came time to push, and it felt modest but still functional. Again I’d had my doubts especially with wanting to possibly do a water birth, but I’m so glad I bought it anyways because 1) labor can be LONG, and most of my labor was not in the tub, 2) I ended up not giving birth in the tub even though I had spent some time in it, so you never know! Postpartum, the robe has been perfect! Buttery soft, pretty, and makes me feel feminine even in these messy early days. I’ve worn it constantly since giving birth! And I love my girls’ cutie hat and pjs!
I just wanted to say thank you for what you’re creating. I hope other women can be encouraged that these gowns are wonderful even, and especially in a home birth setting! Your designs were truly the missing piece that helped me have the home birth experience I’d always dreamed of. 💛
